Every year Sonora Smiles selects a deserving member of our community to get the Second Chance Smile Makeover of their dreams! This year Dr. Dave is pleased to announce the selection of Amelia Harrison as their 2010 Sonora Smiles Second Chance Makeover recipient.

Amelia was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in December 2007.  Within one month, Amelia had ten doctor’s appointment and four surgeries.  With a determined spirit, she never lost hope, remaining positive throughout her grueling treatment.  She also never allowed the disease to interfere with her commitments to her family or community.  However, with the focus on saving her life and curing her cancer, her dental health was neglected and she was at great risk of losing her teeth.  With a beautiful natural smile, Dr. Dave and his team felt she would be the perfect candidate for the Second Chance Smile award.

“Amelia has a great flair for life.  It’s what I noticed about her the very first time I met her.  She has a sparkle in her eye and just seems born to smile!  After fighting cancer for the past three years and giving so tirelessly to our community, we wanted give something back to her and help her continue to smile that great big smile for many years to come.  She is the perfect candidate for our program!”

Amelia longed for a healthy, beautiful smile for years but she knew nothing about the annual Sonora Smiles Second Chance Dental Makeover program and was brought to tears when she came into the office and the Sonora Smiles Team surprised her with the announcement.

“I was blown away by their generosity!  After all my cancer treatments and medical bills, I never dreamed I would be able to smile or chew with confidence again.  This is a dream come true for me.  I’m so grateful.”

Amelia is currently cancer-free and feeling healthier and happier than ever.  Dr. Dave and his team expect their dental makeover to take approximately two months and they expect an outstanding result for Amelia.
